“What the くそ Translate” is a handmade publication based on the communication that is lost and altered through translation. Designed with surprise folds, the publication is made to mimic the process of not knowing and then reaching resolution. My illustrations of famous personas and celebrities have catch phrases that without proper context lose their meaning depending on the reader. The publication bridges the gap to show that despite whatever barriers, we still can coexist on the same plane.
The Motive
A publication that compares the language barriers between various subcultures, people of different languages, and people of different time periods. A juxtaposition between people who share the same tongue yet can not understand each other and people separated by language yet manage to get the message across.
